Department of Engineering and Technology
Welcome
Welcome to the Lake Superior State University, Department of Engineering and Technology web site. Please take some time to review our programs in the high-demand fields of engineering and technology. LSSU is a small, dynamic, and personal university with a focus on teaching. We have about 200 engineering and technology students and you will have ample opportunity to learn from faculty dedicated to teaching both the theoretical and applied aspects of engineering.
As you review our programs and learn more about LSSU you will see examples of our quality learning environment, unique facilities, and dedicated faculty. Although our engineering and technology programs are demanding, I feel the rewards are well worth the time and effort. Our graduates enjoy a nearly 100% placement rate and have found jobs from Texas to Michigan and from New York to Oregon in a wide variety of engineering disciplines. Average starting salaries are over $49,700 per year. Several other graduates have continued on to graduate school and obtained their Masters Degree or Ph.D.
While you’re looking at our web site, be sure to check out the robotics lab where you’ll find fourteen industrial robots. The robotics option is available in all our engineering and engineering technology degrees.
Prototype Development Center
Bridging the gap from ideas to production for resource-limited businesses and enhancing production through automation, robotics and optimization.
The LSSU Prototype Development Center (PDC) and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) work together to foster an environment to help entrepreneurs and technology companies succeed. The initial grant to support the PDC was provided by Michigan's 21st Century Jobs Fund, which is administered by the MEDC, Michigan's one-stop resource for business retention, expansion, and relocation projects.
