About Alan Gillies...

This is Alan’s first year as an Admissions Advisor. Although he is relatively new to the position, he’s no stranger to campus. Alan began his higher education pursuit in 1999 and graduated with a BS Degree in Social Science in May of 2004.

Alan advises students in the South Central and Thumb Area of Michigan. His territory offers him the opportunity for great travel and to experience a diverse population base. Alan’s value of higher education has spurred his interest to make a career within the academic scene. He hopes to begin his Master’s Degree in either Higher Education or Public Administration within the next two years.

Alan is originally from Brimley, MI, just minutes away from campus. He chose LSSU because of the proximity to home, overall size of the University, and the fact that his father is a ’76 grad of LSSU didn't hurt either. Alan is proud of being a “Laker Legacy”.

Alan enjoys all of the seasons the Upper Peninsula has to offer. When ever he can, he finds time to jump on his bike, strap on snowshoes, hit the slopes, or lace up the hiking boots.
