"Most natural science classes at LSSU offer students as much hands-on experience (lab hours) as lecture hours, which ensures that the university experience prepares us for the real world careers, whether you work at a desk or out in the field, or both. There are endless advantages and opportunities available to LSSU students due to its location on an international border.

I found my career path on campus when my advisor posted a job for the Bi-national Public Advisory Council (BPAC), a group dedicated to and overseeing the clean-up the St. Mary's River. I was able to gain experience and network on both sides of the border, ultimately finding full-time employment before I graduated with my biology degree."

Welcome Future Laker Parents!

Thank you for your interest in your child's college life. A supportive family is the fastest ticket to graduation. We know that student enrollment keeps the University alive, but the success of the students relies chiefly on the services awarded to them and the support they receive from family, friends and University staff. This page is designed to offer you easy access to portions of the website that may be of particular interest, and also to help guide you through the services and facilities that are available at Lake Superior State University.

Specific information to help answer your remaining questions

Lake Superior State University is the smallest public university in the state of Michigan.

Our class environment is similar to what you’ll find at a private school. This means your professors will know your strengths and can offer advice on internships and research projects. It also means that we are one of the safest universities you will find.

The fact that we’re a public school makes LSSU a great educational value.

"Not only is LSSU close and convenient to my home in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, but the atmosphere is very welcoming. All of the staff and students seem to be really open, and the teacher-to-student ratio is very personal, unlike larger universities." [ more ]
