Yet the end effect is not to help the consumer but to hurt him. The end effect is rather to protect special groups of producers or to add to the power & importance of bureaucratic organizations. This has been the story since the time the first government agency in the United States was established supposedly to protect the protection for the consumer is the availability of the widest range of alternative supplies through free market competition.
