SECRETS OF THE AFRICAN JUNGLE
Searching for the "Secrets of an African Jungle" in Korup, a remote
Camerounian rain forest. It's a "great citadel of ancient life" that
receives some 30 feet of rainfall per year and harbors the pygmy chameleon,
whose ancestors lived here before the ice age; the frill, a rare baboon
species that forages the mushy ground for fruit, insects and roots.

"The opportunity at LSSU to do research is amazing. This past summer I motored through coves and islands with Prof. Garvon surveying water birds for the affects of pollution. I spent the other part of my summer on the shore of Lake Superior monitoring nests of the endangered Piping Plover."
