Embark on the fabulous Oriental adventure of your dreams with Laura McKenzie
as your guide! Visit the thrilling international duty-free port of HONG
KONG, where East meets West, renowned as a shopper's paradise, gourmet's
delight, and third largest financial capital of the world, offering
year-round sports and traditional Chinese festivals. Laura points out the
most noteworthy attractions, and makes invaluable suggestions about hotels,
entertainment, foreign currency, local customs and cuisine, traveling by
train, boat, taxi, or rickshaw, and more!
Laura highlights the KOWOLOON peninsula at the southern tip of China (and
airport site), famous for its "Golden Mile" of shopping and nightlife, jade
and exotic bird markets, and the "Sung Dynasty" village. Then, crossing the
"Fragrant Harbor" on the picturesque Star Ferry to HONG KONG ISLAND, we
visit the colorful older district of WANCHAI...fascinating markets, sampan
restaurants, and the Colonial Noon Day Gun ritual of bustling CAUSEWAY
BAY...the magnificant "floating restaurants" moored off ABERDEEN...the
popular sunny beaches and Lido of REPULSE BAY...the mythical Tiger Balm
Gardens...and above it all, the spectacular view from VICTORIA PEAK! And
last but not least an added adventure: the Portugese island of MACAU,
"Gateway to China" and jetsetters' gambling haven!
