YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK
Situated on the western flank of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in east-central
California, Yosemite is a land of granite monoliths carved by eons of
Travel through Yosemite and discover its many natural attractions, from the
valley floor to the far reachers of the backcountry. A naturally formed
architectural masterpiece that encompasses 1,189 square miles, within its
boundaries lie the remnants of one of the most monumental glacial carvings
of stone, geological sedimentaion and erosion ever seen on this planet.
Begin your travels with the Park's most popular attraction, Yosemite Valley,
home to most of the domes, cliffs, rock faces, and waterfalls. See El
Captain, the largest, single granite rock to earth...witness commanding
views of mountain scenery at Glacier Point and stop at Mariposa Grove of
Giant Sequoias, where you'll see the largest living things known to man.
Yosemite offers a wide varitey of recreational activities from skiing in
winter to hiking, camping, and fishing during the warmer months.
