Please ban (if you have not allready done so) the phrase “at the end of the day” or else i fear i may commit myself to a nut house “at the end of the day” from hearing this phrase repeatedly uttered.

I totally agree with fauth rs! I just searched all your lists to see if this phrase had yet been banished. To my surprise and dismay it had not. So yes, I agree that the phrase, “At the end of the day” should be banished by the end of this day.

“In the final analysis” really irked a friend of mine and I found

myself using it while talking with him.

I have to admit I’m guilty of using “awesome” way to much - I need to work on this one - loved your lists!!

Awesome is so 1980..like watching episodes of Blossom or some other mundane show…it’s like when the Fonz jumped the shark…that was “awesome”…not!

Neat post. I do see some stuff that drives me crazy, but a lot that I have never heard before. I agree with Robin, you must be younger. I guess when my kids get older, I’ll be hearing a lot more that I will wish banished. Thanks for the good laugh

Cyndee, Awesome isn’t that bad. Try “totally” with a valley girl accent. Makes me want to run my fingernails across a chalk board or tell them to ‘gag me’ with an 8 piece place setting!

How about. “Crocs” or “Like” and my favorite “know what I”m saying.”

I have to agree with “back in the day” or it’s 2nd form “back in my day.” I heard this all the time growing up. Too funny to hear it used with blackberries!

Just thought of “it is what it is” This is normally used as justification for poor performance.

I would like to offer a phrase for banishment “a minute ago” when talking about a long time. “that dress was made about a minute ago” or even future use “I’ll do that in a minute” meaning Never.

It’s ridiculous that this phrase ever caught on and it’s more absurd every time I hear it.

too funny- I think I’ve used them all! atleast in speech, but not so much in writing thankfully. On the screen, cliches do stick out and beg for new thoughts.
But in the final analysis, awesome is a GREAT word, even if it is a bit 1980’s or over the top…but it is what it is.
