The Kensington Conservancy, East Algoma Stewardship Council, Clean North, Central Algoma Freshwater Coalition and Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre (SSMIC) are hosting the fifth annual 2013 Green Expo: Natural Adventures to be held Saturday July 27th in Desbarats, Ontario.
The annual event hosts a morning local pancake breakfast, local food and product exhibits, presentations, workshops sessions, interactive activities for children and families, green vendors and Johnson Farmer’s Market Desbarats.
All events are open to the general public.
“The goal of Green Expo 2013 is to encourage and inspire families to get outdoors and experience nature,” said Tanna Elliott from The Kensington Conservancy. “We are excited about the upcoming Expo featuring engaging activities for kids and informative workshops for all.”
Join fellow community members, adults, children, and students for the 2013 Green Expo: Natural Adventures, a one-day event for nature and wildlife enthusiasts, local food producers and consumers and families interested in green living in the Algoma region.

Soo Locks Engineer’s Day and Cloverland Electric Open House
admin : May 22, 2013 6:17 pm : Upcoming EventsThe U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invite people of all ages to come explore the Soo Locks and avail themselves the rare opportunity to walk across the Lock walls. These walls make it possible for freighters to traverse the 21-foot drop between Lake Superior and the lower Great Lakes. To gain a real understanding of how this engineering marvel works only a visit will do.
The Soo Locks are located on West Portage Avenue in Sault Ste. Marie, MI adjacent to downtown shopping, restaurants and accommodations. The park and all facilities are open free to the public and parking is located on Portage Avenue.
In addition to the celebration of Soo Locks Engineer’s Day, Cloverland Electric Cooperative will host its annual hydroelectric plant open house on Friday June 28, 2013. Join us for a day of fun activities for the whole family. Self-guided tours will be held 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The historic hydroelectric plant is over 110 years old and continues to provide power to residents in the Eastern Upper Peninsula. The facility is located along the St. Marys River and Portage Avenue in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
