enactus (Formally SIFE)
Enactus is a community of student, academic, and business leaders committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to transform lives and shape a better, more sustainable, world. Enactus is a worldwide organization in over 36 countries. There are over 535 competing teams alone in the United States, and more than 1,600 in the world. More than 66,000 students involved in Enactus put in over 7 million volunteer hours per year to help improve people's livelihoods.
We strive to meet four objecitves with every project we do.
We need to empower people. We want to give them the skills and knowledge to keep improving after Enactus leaves.
We strive to use entrepreneurial action to come up with innovative and unique ways to fix problems facing the world.
We fight to improve people's livlihoods and put them in a better place to move forward.
We work in a way that is economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable so that the progress can continue even after our team departs.
Our team has worked with people and organizations in the local area such as the Diane Peppler Resource Center, elementary schools, and Friends of Caring Animal Shelters (FOCAS). Projects have even included far away places such as Cameroon, Africa.
Members participate at the national Enactus job fair. LSSU always has a few members leave the competition with jobs in hand. Companies have included established names such as Hershey, Ford, Home Depot and Walmart. Enactus has over 300 corporate sponsors.

"Lake State is a local University that gave me the option to earn my education while located close to my family. My short-term goal is to gain as much experience as possible in the community and to possibly continue my education toward a Masters Degree. I’d like to continue my work within the city and take advantage of opportunities to be more involved in local politics. In the long term, after I’ve made myself as competitive as possible in the marketing field, I’d like to get a job at a medium to large size company and work more with individual products or brands as opposed to marketing a company itself."
