Network with LSSU alumni from many professions in these fast-paced, 15-minute sessions. Learn tips for getting a job and advancing in your field, or find out what it's REALLY like working in different career areas. This session will be beneficial to students of all levels; it is NOT exclusively for seniors. It is not necessary to stay the entire hour; you can squeeze in as many 15-minute sessions as fit into your schedule during each of the one-hour sessions offered. Light refreshments served. Sessions will be hosted by the LSSU Alumni Association.

Good Neighbor Lunch: Learn about the United Way

The LSSU Learning Center's Campus Connections and Michigan GEAR UP programs invite you to learn more about how you can help support the United Way during its latest Good Neighbor Lunch. Join the group when United Way Director Tracey Laitinen, a 2002 LSSU alumnus, will talk about what the United Way does for the Eastern Upper Peninsula. Find out how you can support organizations in our community with your time and resources. Lunch is free and no RSVP is required. Just stop in to make a sandwich and enjoy a steamy cup of soup and learn more about opportunities to be a good neighbor in our local community.

Relay for Life and Colleges Against Cancer

LSSU's Student Athletic Training Association invites you to find out about Colleges Against Cancer, part of the Relay for Life. There will be free pizza and drinks for students, and live music! Join SATA as it prepares for this year's LSSU Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society in March. LSSU's Relay for Life is a lead-in event for Sault Ste. Marie's Relay later this summer. While you're at the Crow's Nest, you can find out more about the Relay for Life, as well as register your team for the event, which takes place on campus from 3 p.m.-3 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, March 29-30 in the Student Activity Center. There will be food for registered teams, as well as games and other fun activities. Get your team together and join the fight! You can also register your team at relayforlife.org/lssumi

Neal Moran presents *Breaking into Magazine Writing*

LSSU alumnus Neil Moran '84 will present "Breaking into Magazine Writing" during a special program tonight. Do you have a lot of ideas for stories and articles, but need help getting them published? Join veteran freelance writer Neil Moran as he explains how to break into online and print publications. Moran has close to 30 years of experience writing for different magazines, including Michigan Country Lines, BackHome, UP Second Wave, and GIE Media. He will show you how to write a compelling query letter, when and when not to contact an editor, and a few secrets to breaking into publishing, including the use of social media.
