Japanese Film Night

Description: Please join your friends for Japanese Film Night, when visiting Professor Kazumi Kondoh has arranged for the showing of Departures (Okuribito). Admission is free and open to the public. In the 2008 film, a Tokyo-based cellist, Daigo Kobayashi, loses his job when his orchestra was disbanded. He decides to move back to his hometown, Sakata Yamagata, where he finds a job preparing the dead for funerals. Directed by Yojiro Takita, the Japanese film with English subtitles won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2009, and also received Picture of the Year at the 32nd Japan Academy Prize. The film is 130 minutes.
