Seamore Shuttle

Description: The Seamore Shuttle is a free service provided by the LSSU Campus Life Office that takes LSSU students downtown and to places on the business spur such as Family Video, Big Lots and other stores in the Sault Plaza, as well as Varsity Cinemas. Pick-up and drop-off is at the Walker Cisler Center. Shuttle runs from 6-10:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 1-10:30 p.m. on Sunday.

LSSU presents Oleg Pokhanovski with Marc Widner

Description: Join us for this concert with violinist Oleg Pokhanovski, a former LSSU music professor who has won acclaim around the world for his music. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $5 for students. They may be purchased by calling 906-635-2602 or going online to Pokhanovski began his career as a violinist at the age of 6, giving his first performance with the Kuybyshev Symphony in Russia. At 10, he was accepted into renowned Special Music School for Gifted Children in Moscow and later studied at the Moscow State Conservatory. Pokhanovski cites his most influential teachers to be his uncle violinist Lev Zaides, and pianist Svetlana Vorobyova. Invited to move to the United States, he received full scholarships at The Juilliard School and the Manhattan School of Music studying with Dorothy DeLay, Pinchas Zukerman and Ani Kavafian,and took part in the “Solisti dal Mondo” program under Taras Gabora. He is a top prizewinner of eight prestigious international violin competitions including the Paganini in Genova, Sarasate in Pamplona and CIEM in Geneva among others, and was First Prize Winner of the 1990 Scheveningen International Violin Competition. He was also twice the recipient of the prestigious Canada Council National Career Development Grant, as well as a multiple recipient of Conceildes Arts du Quebec and Manitoba Arts Council Grants. Marc Widner has several decades of experience as a performer, as soloist and chamber musician, with numerous radio broadcasts and recordings to his credit. In May 1998, he was soloist in the first canadian performances of the Concertos of Laszlo Weiner and Erwin Schulhoff at the Ford Centre for the Performing Arts in Toronto. In 1999, he performed Beethoven's Emperor Concerto in a concert marking the 60th Anniversary of the founding of the Sherbrooke Symphony Orchestra. More recently, he has performed in several summer music festivals with violinist Moshe Hammer and Oleg Pokhanovski, and appeared as soloist with the Huronia Symphony Orchestra.

In order to gain influence over their North Carolina district, two CEOs seize an opportunity to oust long-term congressman Cam Brady by putting up a rival candidate. Their man: naive Marty Huggins, director of the local tourism center. You have three opportunities to see The Campaign...Thursday at 9:30 p.m., Friday & Saturday at approximately 9:45 p.m. (after the hockey games). All shows in the Peacock Cove.
