LSSU Volunteer Center
Our mission is to inspire the more than 2,000 members of the LSSU student body, as well as the community at large, to create social change through lifelong participation in volunteer programs and civic engagement.
About the LSSU Volunteer Center
The LSSU Volunteer Center coordinates service opportunities on campus and throughout greater Sault Ste. Marie, MI area and is charged with inspiring members of the extended LSSU family to give their time and talents to better our community. Through the Volunteer Center, students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members can participate in both occasional and ongoing service opportunities, learn about partners in the community, and lead service projects and alternative break experiences. The Volunteer Center maintains a database of service groups and events in the community, and connects students to community partners that will provide a meaningful experience for both the volunteer and the partner. The LSSU
In 2006, The LSSU Volunteer Center was formally established as a satellite office of United Way of the Eastern Upper Peninsula. In 2010, the Volunteer Center started coordinating volunteer efforts for university students, staff, faculty, and alumni, and has grown from holding just a few events a year to having over 100 active volunteers that engage in service with almost 20 community partners.
