A RESOLUTION TO: Amend the Constitution of the Students, Article II, H, Section 4.**

WHEREAS, in its 2001-2002 session, Student Government passed a similar amendment, but it was never given to the University President to sign and therefore never took effect; and

WHEREAS, the Association of Michigan Universities passed Resolution 2004-37 encouraging the formalization of AMU membership within the constitution/bylaws of all member student governing bodies, and this amendment would put Lake Superior State University in compliance with that resolution; be it therefore

RESOLVED, that Article II, H, Section 4 shall be amended to read as follows:

Section 4: Political Action and University Development Committee

4.1: The Political Action and University Development Committee shall be the primary representative body in matters of Political and Administrative issues in which the students of Lake Superior State University and the Student Government would have a vested interest.

4.2: This committee shall encourage student input and adaptation to the changing needs and desires of the students through communication with the Advisor to Student Government and other University administrators and officials in matters of both academic and social interests.

4.3: This committee shall raise awareness of public issues as well as research and propose Student Government action to improve the quality of life both in and around the Lake Superior State University campus.

4.4: This committee shall be chaired by the Secretary of Political Action and University Development.

Approved, Yes: 14, No: 0, Abstentions: 0

4.5: The chair of this committee shall be required to be in contact with the Association of Michigan Universities (AMU) Chairperson and other respective officers and delegations of the AMU.

4.6: This committee is responsible for ensuring that delegates and representatives of the Lake Superior State University Student Government are chosen and present at all general assembly meetings of the AMU.

4.7: Delegates to the AMU shall be chosen by the chair of this committee to be approved by the Student Government President. Additional Student Government representation shall be left to the discretion of the chair of this committee.

4.8: The Secretary of Political Action and University Development shall be the official Student Government representative on the University Master Planning Committee.
