Welcome to Campus Life!

Are you interested in getting involved on campus?  Look no further than the many clubs and organizations that are available for you to join!  Don’t see a group that appeals to you?  It’s easy to start your own!  For more information on any of the existing clubs or how to start your own organization, feel free to stop by the Office of Campus Life, 125 Cisler Center, or call Student Activities at (906) 635-2236.

Student Assembly Branches

The student assembly at Lake Superior State University is comprised of all students at Lake Superior State University.  There are seven branches of the Assembly, each with their own purpose.  Please follow this link to view each a description of the Student Assembly Branches.

Recognized Student Clubs & Organizations

Accounting Club

To assist students with career development, networking, certification preparation, career resumes as well as to create accounting awareness. 

ACM Computer Club

To promote and share a love for computers and computing.

Anchor House

This group is an ecumenical campus ministry.

Anime Club

This group shares a common interest in Japanese animation.

Astronomy Club (bylaws)

To explore and share with the community the wonders of our universe through space related activities, including observing, model rocketry and planetarium shows. 

Catholic Newman Center (bylaws)

Catholic Campus ministry is available at LSSU.

Chemistry Club (bylaws)

The chemistry club gives those interested in chemistry and the environmental sciences the chance to meet each other to plan activities related to our field and promote professional development

College Republicans

This group shares and promotes the ideas pertaining to the Republican Party.

Criminal Justice/Fire Student Alliance (CJFSA)

CJFSA is a group of criminal justice and fire science majors and minors that gets together to build relationships with the professional world.

Ducks Unlimited

Students involved in this organization are dedicated to wetland conservation.

English and Communications Club

Our club brings English & Communication majors and minors together to discuss literature, and tries to bring a better appreciation of the English language to the LSSU campus.

Exercise Science

Students from the Exercise Science program explore career opportunities and participate in career related activities.

To Provide regular entertainment to the students of Lake Superior State University and the surrounding community. 

Fisheries and Wildlife Club (bylaws)

This club strives to give students an opportunity to gain field experience in fisheries and wildlife.

Gamers Club

This group gets together to enjoy role playing games and share their experience with each other

Geology Club

This group is for geology majors and minors, or anyone who is interested in geology.  Every year this group takes a trip west to study geological formations.

His House Christian Fellowship

This group is a Christian ministry for the campus community.  We are a body of believers that work together to minister to students, and to help those who want to serve and minister to others.

Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA)

To enhance students knowledge of Health Occupations in preparation for the positions through competitive events and educational symposiums.

Institute for Electrical Electronic Engineers (IEEE) (bylaws)

IEEE works with engineering students and the professional engineering world to build relationships and create fun and exciting projects. 

Kuk Sool Won Club

A martial arts club dedicated to physical fitness and learning to Korean martial art of Kuk Sool Won.  Along with regular classes, they participate in a wide variety of activities including tournaments and demonstrations.

Lake State Student Nurses Association (LSSNA)

A professional nurses organization that works to promote images of nursing through community activities such as blood drives, involvement with Cystic Fibrosis, the Salvation Army, the soup kitchen and more.  They also participate in fun activities such as ice cream socials, Christmas parties and state conventions.

Lake State Theater and Drama Club

Are you dramatic?  If you said yes, then Lake State Theatre Company wants you!  We are a drama group that is open to all LSSU students.  We present at least one play every semester.

Linux Users Group (LUG)

To provide support for Linux users and promote Linux use on campus. 

LSSU College Democrats of America

Share ideas and promote the Democratic Party.

LSSU Dance Company (bylaws)

Strives to bring excellence in dance/fine arts performances to LSSU and surrounding communities.  We bring the art of dance to students of all abilities and interest levels. 

LSSU Investment Club (bylaws)

Students involved in this organization learn about the field of investment through trading and investing in an open market.

LSSU Pep Band

Got Pep? Know how to play an instrument?  Want to get in to Laker Hockey games for free?   Then the LSSU Pep band wants you!  All instruments are welcome.  Come out and help the band build its base and get the crowd pumped up!

LSSU Student Honors Organization

A group of students who challenge themselves to go beyond the normal required curriculum. 

Men’s Club Hockey D3

Club hockey team for LSSU men.  Compete mainly within the state of Michigan.

Political Science Club

We are a non-partisan student political group who try to promote political activism and awareness at LSSU.

Pre-Professional Society (bylaws)

For pre-medical majors who are interested in networking with other students and professionals

Professional Student Recreation Association (Rec Club) (bylaws)

To promote student involvement in recreation activities.  To fundraise for events and to serve the community by providing recreation oriented opportunities.

Shooting Sports/Ballistics Studies Club (bylaws)

To educate people on firearms and firearm safety, also try and get students together to help in the community with firearms and firearm safety. 

Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE)

Do you want to get into automotive engineering?  Then SAE is for you!  We offer networking with automotive professionals and cool projects that have to do with the automotive world.

Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME)

Looking into the Manufacturing world?  So are we!  Check out what we have to offer, including cool engineering projects and networking with engineering professionals.  We are SME

Society of Women Engineers (SWE)

We are a group for women engineers of any field.  Come out and see what we have to offer!

Student Alumni Involved for Lake State (SAILS)

SAILS is a student organization whose number one goal is to make LSSU a better place to live and learn!  We work closely with the President’s Office, Alumni Office, the LSSU Foundation, the Admissions Office and more.

Student Athletic Training Association (SATA)

Students in the athletic training program.

Student Organization for Diversity (SOFD)

Students with a vision and looking to make a real contribution to campus related to educating and advocating on diversity issues.

Students Enhancing Environmental Knowledge (SEEK)

Members of this organization strive to actively educate for environmental awareness.

Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE)

Get great experience in the Business field from business professors and professionals and earn credit while doing it!  See the Business department for more information.

Taking Education Abroad (TEA)

To promote and advoctate education, to build schools, and enable learning.

The Communication Alliance (bylaws)

To support the LSSU communication department and enable and develop community students and majors.

Wrestling Club

They bring the sport of wrestling to LSSU.  The good is to eventually get a full. Official team to the school 

Yoga

The purpose of the Yoga Club is to offer a place to practice yoga and gain a better understanding and peace through its teachings.

Social Greek Chapters

Alpha Kappa Chi (bylaws)

A local sorority founded in 1978. Since 1978, over 300 sisters have been intiatied. Their philanthropies include the Diane Peppler Resource Center, Cystic Fibrosis, Epilepsy, and Diabetes. The sisters are known for their yearly teater totter thon.

Alpha Phi Omega (bylaws)

A national co-ed service fraternity founded at Lake Superior State University in 2007. Alpha Phi Omega is nationally known for dedication to leadership, friendship, and service. Locally, the chapter works closely with the Boy Scouts of America.

President: Amanda Wisniewski

Alpha Theta Omega (bylaws)

A local sorortiy founded in 1997. The sisters of Alpha Theta Omega are dedicated to improving the local community and their sisterhood. The sisters are known also for their involvement locally and nationally with Breast Cancer Awareness.

President: Sarah Forman

Beta Nu Xi (bylaws)

The newest fraternity on campus, this chapter was recognized by the Inter Greek Council in the fall of 2009. The local fraternity supports the Sexual Violence Provention Team as well as Testicular Cancer Awareness.

Rho Chi Omega (bylaws)

The newest sorority on campus, the chapter was recognized by the Inter Greek Council in the spring of 2009. The sisters of Rho Chi Omega are dedicated to personal integrity, academic success, community service, and leadership development.

Sigma Lambda Sigma (bylaws)

A local sorority founded in 1994 with an emphasis on service. The sisterhood stands for service, leadership, and sisterhood. The sisters are known in the community for their yearly box sit outside of Glens!

President: Ashley Hamel

Tau Kappa Epsilon (bylaws)

The Rho-Theta Chapter of international fraternity was founded in March of 1987. The fraternity values scholarship, character, leadership, teamwork, service and brotherhood. The TKEs of Lake State are known for their yearly tub push.

Theta Xi (bylaws)

A national organization founded at Lake State in the spring of 1987. Known on campus for their involvement with Habitat for Humanity and their yearly spring break service project.

President: Rob Morgan
