Macomb Montessori Academy
is celebrating its first full year of
operation after opening its doors
in the fall of 2013. This has been
a year of phenomenal moments,
new beginnings, and unforgettable
learning experiences for our
students, families and staff.
As we reflect back on the year,
we are filled with memories of
everything from field trips to field
days, standardized assessments
to individual learning plans. Our
students were introduced to the
Montessori approach to learning,
they were enlightened with our monthly character
traits, challenged to be the Power of One student, and
pushed to achieve their own academic success.
On Thursday, June 12, 2014 we held our first ever
graduation ceremonies for our K and 8th grade classes.
We celebrated with family, friends, laughter and tears
as we shared our most memorable and remarkable
moments, while wishing our Kindergartners and 8th
graders success as they transition on to first grade and
move on to high school.
This gradation was more then just a celebration
of our Kindergartners and 8th graders, it was also
a celebration of Macomb Montessori Academy as
a whole – of the accomplishments we have made,
the obstacles we have overcome, and the wealth of
knowledge we will take with us as we move forward.
Robotics and Computer Science
"Lake Superior State is the only robotics program of its kind in the country. I can work up any research or senior project idea with a professor or my advisor. I studied for a year in Japan through LSSU's connection with the Japan Center for Michigan Universities, and became fluent in Japanese. A Japanese company called Fanuc makes most of the robots in our lab. I'd like to roll my senior research project into a career with Fanuc that bridges the two countries and cultures."
