North Central Academy students earn salaries, have jobs to do, pay bills and develop their own businesses. The younger children rely more heavily on teacher support, but all kids experience the responsibility, creativity and satisfaction of building a business. Students learn to become productive members of society by participating in these businesses and job clubs, where real-life issues such as supply and demand, profitability and customer service are experienced firsthand.
Our fifth and sixth grade class has partnered up with Shetler's Dairy to create a unique ice cream flavor, "Blurple Berry Blast". This special blend of blueberry, strawberry and raspberry is mixed into Shetler's all natural, organic ice cream. The 1/2 gallon cartons will be specially decorated with the NCA logo and being distributed through the school and also available through the Shetler Dairy Farm in Kalkaska, MI as well as Oryana's in Traverse City.
Our Music Program
Learning music helps students learn other subjects and enhances skills that children inevitably use. Music is more than just using your voice, or playing an instrument; it helps multiple skill sets. It helps your child develop as a whole through the mind and the body. It helps students become more involved and engaged which is what we strive to accomplish here at Bay City Academy.
This April, our Solo and Ensemble group traveled to Woodland School in Traverse City to compete in the "Charter School Solo and Ensemble" competition. We are proud to announce they were awarded with SUPERIOR ratings which is the highest rating you can achieve. These young talented students never seize to amaze us each and every day!
