Intermediate GIS

This course will survey the rapidly growing GIS industry, consider many important principles guiding GIS use and development, and provide the student with hands-on experience. Emphasis will be on geospartial analysis techniques, geodatabase, system design, remote sensing, and provide an introduction to advanced topics. After successfully completing this course, students should come away with a clear understanding of GIS analyses, the issues affecting how a GIS is used (and misused), how to review GIS research, how GIS research is written, and an appreciation for how GIS can contribute to a wide variety of disciplines and research interests. Prerequisites: EVRN131 or equivalent.
