Emergency Information
For emergencies please call 911 (on campus 9-911) and then call Public Safety at 906-635-2210. In crisis situations, students may contact us when Counseling Services is open, at 906-635-2752. Counseling Services does not provide emergency services outside of our regular hours of operation.
We urge the use of other resources since we may not always be able to respond immediately to emergencies. We do not provide night-time and weekend coverage. If an emergency occurs, the following procedures are recommended:
Do not use E-mail for emergencies. E-mail is not used for counseling issues or emergency contact and is not monitored 24 hours a day.
For students living on campus:
- Call 911 (on campus 9-911) and then call Public Safety at 906-635-2210
- Hiawatha Behavior Health (HBH) 24 hour Crisis Intervention Services at 1-800-839-9443
- Depending on the nature of the assistance needed, call a RESIDENT or COMMUNITY ADVISOR.
For all other students:
- Call 911 (on campus 9-911)
- You may call LSSU Public Safety at 906-635-2210
- Hiawatha Behavior Health (HBH) 24 hour Crisis Intervention Services at 1-800-839-9443

Student insurance:
Knowledge of your health insurance coverage is very important for accessing these emergency services. Students should have their insurance cards with them when they go to the hospital.
