Alum Success

The LSSU Dance program has provided me with excellent opportunities I could not have received at any other university. My ultimate career goal is to obtain a Clinical Doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology and find alternative forms of communication with my patients. The dance program has allowed me to choreograph and produce works of art that incorporated sign language as well as work with children of all ages. Because of these opportunities I am well prepared for my future goals and am set apart from other students in a very competitive field.

2010 Haiti Relief Effort

On Sunday, May 2, 2010, 85 boxes of goods collected for the people of Haiti left LSSU. Supported by members and friends of the LSSU Dance Company, the goods were collected, sorted, packed and carried into a U-Haul Truck. The truck was then driven to Virginia by Dance Company Director, Deborah Choszczyk and her husband Dan. There they palletized all the boxes, preparing them to be picked up and taken to the Royal Caribbean dock for departure to Haiti. According to Royal Caribbean International Cruise Lines, all five pallets arrived safe and sound and with the peoples thanks!

Close and Focused

Jenna Perry Sault Ste. Marie, MI

I am from Sault Sainte Marie, MI. Majoring in Psychology, double Minoring in dance and counseling. I have been dancing since the age of two and it has blessed me with so many great opportunities such as dancing at Disney World, Broadway Dance Center, many conventions and competitions throughout various states and country's, as well as working with some of my role models such as tap dancer, Cartier Williams. Dancing at Lake State is definitely a life changer for me, it's the perfect place because everybody is so close and focused and we are all doing what we love! I wouldn't want to spend my college years dancing anywhere else but here.
