Steph Reveley

Class of 2008
Steph chose athletic training because she always wanted to be in the medical field and she loves sports.
Steph says her favorite class was ES 232 because she liked learning about the injuries. She says the most beneficial class was orthopedic assessment.
After Graduation, Steph wants to get certified as an athletic trainer, then while working in the field she would like to go back to school for Nursing either to work with pediatrics or a professional team.

Brittany Currie
Sault Ste. Marie, ON, CA
Class of 2009
Brittany chose athletic training because she enjoys helping others. She enjoys helping someone who has been injured to get back to pre-injury status. Brittany likes getting to see the improvement a person can make, and knowing that what she instructed them to do was beneficial to them.
Brittany says her favorite class was taping and bracing because it covers all the basic tape jobs and it was very practical which gives her a better understanding of what she’s doing. After Graduation, Brittany plans of attending a graduate school to obtain a masters degree in athletic training.
Matt McLeod
Sault Ste. Marie, MI
Class of 2009
Matt chose athletic training because he was an athlete in high school and has a passion for sports and the athletes that play sports. He wants to help athletes that have gone to the higher level of play and help them out with getting back to play and help them excel in their sports.
Matt says his favorite classes so far are modalities and taping, kinesiology was the most beneficial. It showed him how the body works and to know each individual muscle of the body and how it works.
After Graduation, Matt plans to get his masters degree in athletic training so he can teach athletic training classes at a university.
Andy Mendina
Norway, Michigan
Class of 2009
Andy chose athletic training because he was an athlete in high school and wants to be able to maintain a close relationship to the activities that he enjoys. Andy enjoys interacting with the athletes and being able to see their speedy recovery after an injury. Upon graduation, Andy would like to start his career providing athletic training services at the high school level and work his way to collegiate or professional sports.

Kristi Morman
Vassar, MI
Class of 2009.
Kristi has always wanted to do something in the medical field and was always interested in athletics. Originally, she thought she wanted to be a doctor but realized that she hated hospitals, so athletic training seemed like her best option. After starting here at Lake State, she realized that this is exactly what she wanted to do.
Kristi says her two favorite classes so far are taping and modalities because they are almost completely hands on.
After Graduation, Kristi plans to go to a graduate school for her doctorate of physical therapy (DPT). She wants to work as an athletic trainer at the college setting and eventually use the DPT in the clinical setting.

Stef Parylak
Jackson, MI
Class of 2009
Stef has always loved the medical field and helping people. She loves sports even more. Athletic training combines medicine and sports into one career. She says it’s the best pathway for her.
Stef says her favorite class was taping and bracing. She says it’s fun because it is mostly sophomores who are pursuing a degree in athletic training. The class gets to learn things and then practice them right away. After graduation, Stef hopes to work with the Detroit Red Wings as an Athletic Trainer.
Michael Shampo
Daggett, MI
Class of 2009
Michael realized that he was interested in Athletic Training after going through knee surgery in 2000. He really enjoyed seeing first hand what an Athletic Trainer does when rehabilitating an athlete back to play. Michael has always been involved in athletics and athletic training provides him the avenue to stay close to his athletic interests.
Michael's favorite class was the taping and bracing class. This class was fun and is one of the foundational classes that athletic trainers use everyday.
Upon graduation Michael would like to work with athletes in a high school setting.
