Requesting Testing Accommodations

Accommodations

    • Testing Services is located in the lower level of the library in Room 127.

Scheduling of Tests

Tests can be scheduled either in person, by telephone or by e-mail.

When scheduling a test, please be prepared to provide the following information:

  • Your first and last name
  • A telephone number or extension where you can be reached
  • The date and time you wish to take the test and the date and time the class is taking the test.
  • The name of the Professor
  • The course number (i.e. ENGL 110)
  • The approved accommodations you will needed for this test ( i.e., quiet room, computer, ect)

The Testing Center requires at least two (2) days advance notice for all testing.

Faculty generally require students who receive accommodations to test at the same date and time as the class.

The Instructor must be contacted and give prior approval to the Testing Office for an alternate date or time.

Testing accommodations will not be expedited for students who delay making their requests. Testing Services reserves the right to consult the Disability Services Coordinator and/or faculty regarding the requests. Students who elect to make their tests in the area provided by Testing Services will be required to sign an Informed Consent Form indicating that no unauthorized materials materials may be taken or information may be taken into or out of the testing area. A picture ID is required to test.

Quiet Room and/or Extended Time
The student is responsible for making arrangements with the Testing Center at least two (2) days in advance.

Readers for Exams
Volunteer readers for exams are provided when the student can show an inability to benefit from the use of the following: Arkenstone Reader, print magnifier, computerized dictation program, or audio-taped tests. Readers do not explain questions or define terms.

Word Processors for Essay Tests
The request for utilizing a word processor for essay tests must be made at least two (2) days in advance of the exam.

Pre-Recorded or Audio Testing
The request for utilizing pre-recording or audio testing must be made at least two (2) days in advance of the exam.

Student's Responsibilities:

  • A report will be provided to each of your instructors stating what accommodations you are entitled to receive.
  • However, it is your responsibility to personally notifying your professors, each and every time, that you will be taking you tests in the Testing Center and not in the classroom.
  • You must remind your instructor of your testing needs several days before each test to make sure the test gets to the testing center in a timely manner.
  • You must bring a Picture ID to the testing center each time you come to test.
  • You must sign in before taking a test.
  • You must leave your backpacks, coats, hats, cell phones, laptop computers, PDAs, infrared devices, watches with alarms, and all other electronic devices in a designated area during the test.
