Definition of 'Argument':   a two part system comprised of 1) a set of propositions called the premise set and 2) a single proposition called the conclusion.  In normal use, conclusions are asserted to be supported by the information contained in the premise set.


Definition of statement (proposition):  a conceptual relation which may be said to be true or false.

Evaluate whether the following are or are not statements:

    "Aristotle and John Adams"
    "Aristotle wrote 'Eroica'  "
    "Aristotle had hair that was either brown or non-brown"
    "Aristotle pre-existed Jesus of Nazareth"
