Basic Educational Costs for 2008-09
Lake Superior State University is one of the most affordable public universities in Michigan. The University is committed to keeping costs as low as possible, providing an excellent education at an affordable price. The following costs are for the 2008-09 academic year and are based on full-time (12 credits for undergraduate) attendance for each semester. All costs are subject to change.
Tuition
- Resident tuition cost is calculated at $326.00 per credit hour or $3,912 semester, or $7,824 per year.
- Non-resident tuition cost is calculated at $652 per credit hour or $7,824 per semester, or $15,648 per year.
- Midwest Consortium Agreement tuition cost is calculated at $489 per credit hour or $5,868 per semester, or $11,736 per year. Residents of Wisconsin, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska and North Dakota are eligible for the Midwest rate.
- Graduate tuition cost is calculated at $375.00 per credit hour.
Special Fees
- Program Fee — In addition to the standard tuition rate and fees detailed on the back of this sheet, a $60 per credit hour fee will be assessed for all courses offered by the School of Engineering & Technology, $20 per credit hour for courses offered by the Department of Nursing and $10 per credit hour for courses offered by the Department of Chemistry and selected courses within the Natural Science program.
- Activity Course Fee — An additional tuition charge of $20 per credit hour will be assessed for all one-credit courses in recreation and music (except MU210).
- Regional Center Fee — An additional tuition charge of $25 per credit hour will be assessed for all courses offered on the premises of the regional centers in Escanaba and Petoskey.
- Athletic Fee — The $125 athletic fee is a one-time fee charged to all new, undergraduate, degree-seeking students (excluding teacher education interns, students with interships/practicums off-campus, dual enrolled students and Regional Center and other distance education students). The fee is assessed once and permits access to all regular session athletic events based on space available for up to six years as long as the student is enrolled.

Your payment is due in full on August 15, 2008 for fall semester and December 15, 2008 for spring semester. We accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover. For payment by mail, please send your payment with the top portion of the statement to the Student Service Center, Fletcher Building, Lake Superior State University, 650 W. Easterday Ave., Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783 prior to the due date. Call 906-635-2276 if you have any questions. If your payment is not received by the due date a late fee will be assessed to your unpaid balance. If your account remains unpaid, the University may assume you are not attending class and may cancel your classes. All funds paid to the University are applied to your current outstanding balance.
