Exposure to different experiences at Lake Superior State University helped me to learn and decide what I wanted to do with my life. There were many opportunities to help my learning experience, including day and weekend trips to various geological sites. It wasn’t all travel though; there was lots of hands-on experience that helped demonstrate what we learned in lectures.

How to give to the Dillon F. Menard Memorial Scholarship

If you wish to make an online gift in support of the Dillon F. Menard Scholarship, you can use the LSSU Foundation's secure website to show your support of this very special scholarship that benefits a track & field or cross country student athlete.

When completing the online form, select the "Dillon F. Menard Scholarship" from the drop down selection, and enter the amount you would like to give, within the Giving to LSSU section, "For an existing scholarship named." (see example below). This will ensure your support is directed to the Dillon F. Menard Memorial Scholarship.

Brian Applegate

LSSU's dedicated three-story fire lab made all the difference to Brian Applegate. "Our certification training classes offered real situations," Brian says. Students practice victim search techniques while controlling and extinguishing fires. Applegate says his favorite exercise was the live fire flashover simulation. "We saw how fires evolved as they burned," he says. "It’s as close as you can get to the real thing." [ more ]
