Michigan Honors Association (MHA)

About the MHA

The Michigan Honors Association (MHA) has members from two-year and four-year Michigan colleges and universities. The members exchange ideas for challenging and nurturing its students through effectively run programs which foster indivudual growth, achievement, and conscience. The well-attended yearly conference at Higgins Lake in Roscommon, Michigan provides a forum for student and faculty interaction in a relaxed, yet engaging environment.

About the conference

The 2011 conference will be held Saturday to Sunday, October 1-2, 2011 at the scenic
MacMullan Conference Center in Roscommon, MI. Three meals are provided. Please see this flyer for the 2011 conference itinerary.

The conference center is comfortable and the mood is relaxed. Students enjoy learning about the programs at other Michigan institutions and getting away from their campuses, if even for a night or two. The Honors program directors appreciate the insights of the students as well as the collegial advice of other directors. This year (2011), the Conference Center will hold a cabin open for anyone who wants to come on Friday September 30th and stay over Friday night.
There will be no conference events scheduled for Friday. Breakfast at MacMullen on Saturday morning is optional. The cost and process for that option will
be explained in our final registration brochure, sent to member institutions in the very early Fall.

"Lake Superior State is the only robotics program of its kind in the country. I can work up any research or senior project idea with a professor or my advisor. I studied for a year in Japan through LSSU's connection with the Japan Center for Michigan Universities, and became fluent in Japanese. A Japanese company called Fanuc makes most of the robots in our lab. I'd like to roll my senior research project into a career with Fanuc that bridges the two countries and cultures."
