Title: Nurse Practitioner
 
Function and Responsibility
Under the general supervision of the Director Health Care Center, responsible for providing health care services to LSSU students, faculty, staff and the general public.

 
Duties and Responsibilities
Patient care: Responsible for the management of patients which includes assessments, diagnoses, intervention, appropriate referral for care, and outcome evaluation. Secures health histories, orders and interprets diagnostic tests, records findings, makes completed assessment of patient needs and develops, reviews and modifies treatment plans.

Works independently and consults with medical director as deemed per case. Practice in collaboration with onsite mid level providers and consult with physician when appropriate.

Supervises clinical nursing activities of baccalaureate nursing students as well as athletic training students. Proctors independent study nursing students.

Complies with human relations, safety, health, human resources and departmental policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines and meets all licensing requirements.
 
Qualifications
▫Registered Nurse, Michigan licensure.
▫Masters degree or Bachelors degree with graduation of certificate nurse practitioner program prior to 1996 and a National certification leading to certification by the State Board of Nursing as a nurse practitioner.
▫Minimum of three years experience Practitioner in community based settings preferred.
▫Current licensure in the State of Michigan as a registered nurse practitioner.
▫BCLS/AED required.
▫Ability to distinguish critical values, recognize emergency situations, and react appropriately.
▫Ability to communicate both orally and in writing with a wide range of people, including the collection, organization and recording of data relevant to the primary health assessments.
▫Able to facilitate multi-disciplinary groups.
▫Open to new ideas, and with a demonstrated ability to think flexibly, seminally and with vision.
▫Must have the ability to work independently.
 
Physical and Mental Demands
Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position. Adequate physical fitness to be able to sit and concentrate for long periods of time; use of gross motor skills to perform supervisory and organizational activities; use of fine motor skills to operate a computer; problem solving ability; ability to understand and work with numbers; ability to see, hear, and speak with or without the use of aids to perform normal office tasks.
