Title: Arts Center Technician and Building Manager
 
Function and Responsibility
Under the direction of the Provost, the Arts Center Technician and Building Manager will be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the theatrical and instructional equipment and overall management of all performance venues of the facility. This position would be responsible for scheduling and use of the auditorium by the University and the public in keeping with the Arts Center building use policy.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
Establish service and maintenance protocols for all theatrical lighting and sound equipment within the facility.

Serve as technical director and consultant for all faculty and student productions.

Serve as technical director for all presentations, performances, and events.

Supervise students and volunteers working in the facility as appointed.

Function as the building manager for scheduling events and activities. Assure compliance of production and entertainment contracts in keeping with University policies and procedures.

Assist Provost and others in determining university sponsored events and productions for the Arts Center.

Assist with “front of house” operations for all productions, presentations, or events.

May be assigned teaching responsibilities if qualified and appropriate.

Other duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Theatre and Drama (or related degree program/field) with emphasis in technical theatre and design. Experience in production and technical theatre a must. Knowledge and experience with computer lighting and sound systems. Experience with vendors and booking agents desirable. House management experiences a plus. Excellent communication and supervisory skills are needed. Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.

 
Physical and Mental Demands
Must have ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be able to push or pull heavy loads to move equipment around campus facilities. Must be able to occasionally climb ladders and work in confined spaces. Occasional stooping and bending required. Use of gross motor skills to perform supervisory and organizational duties; use of fine motor skills to operate computer; problem solving ability; ability to understand and work with numbers; ability to see, hear and speak with or without the use of aids.
