Title: Learning Assistant Coordinator/Specialist
 
Function and Responsibility
Under administrative direction from and report directly to the Director of the Learning Center the 3/4-time (9 month) position will coordinate, implement, supervise, train and maintain the Supplemental Instruction (SI) Program and the Online Course Assistance (OCA) Program and work with the IPASS Program.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
• Coordinate the SI and OCA programs – (1) Work with Director of the Learning Center and faculty to determine which courses to target for SI and OCA; (2) Create and maintain training handbooks for SI and OCA leaders; (3) Coordinate, implement and deliver appropriate training programs; (4) Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate SI and OCA staff; (5) Maintain communications protocol with the University community, including faculty, SI and OCA leaders; and, (6) Implement and maintain the standards of the SI and OCA programs.

• Program assessment of SI and OCA – develop an assessment plan and implementation strategy of the programs and analyze data and produce reports based on those data regarding usage and success of SI and OCA programs.

• Assist the Director of the Learning Center with the IPASS Program and meet with IPASS students and develop an individualized study plan and work with the student while they are in the program.
• Work to promote the IPASS program to students and faculty.
• Communicate with faculty participants on a regular basis to monitor the success and effectiveness of students in the IPASS program.
• Maintain SI Website using Contribute
• Implement and lead Student Success Seminars
• Serve on appropriate committees.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred with experience in academic support, on-line instruction; supervision of tutorials/supplemental instruction programs highly desirable. Must possess excellent communication skills and proficiency in data analysis.
 
Physical and Mental Demands
Adequate physical fitness to be able to sit and concentrate for long periods of time; use of gross motor skills to perform supervisory and organizational duties; use of fine motor skills to operate computer; problem solving ability; ability to see, hear, write and speak with or without use of aids to perform normal office tasks.
