Title: Development Assistant
Function and Responsibility
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Donor Relations and Director of Alumni Relations, the Development Assistant is responsible for the administrative aspects of the annual fund and alumni relations activities.

Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in planning, coordinating and hosting special events, including but not limited to, Great Lake State Weekend, golf outings, reunions, scholarship events, alumni socials and alumni travel programs. Assist in arrangements or delegating responsibilities for: registration, volunteer assignments, collection of fees, catering, graphics, notifications/invitations to guests, security, related educational programming, tickets for sporting and cultural events and other related activities.

In conjunction with the Alumni Director, develop marketing materials for Alumni Association memberships; plan and develop mailings and marketing efforts designed for membership acquisition and renewals; supervise maintenance of membership records in Banner database; coordinate correspondence with members; disseminate benefits to members; maintain adequate supply of coupons and other membership perks; research and implement additional membership benefits as appropriate.

Maintain web-pages for the Foundation and Alumni Relations and create and distribute html email notifications of special events and other news relating to both entities.

Identify, hire, train, supervise and evaluate the student telemarketing team.

Create fundraising reports as needed to track progress of telemarketing team.

Process donations, perform associated accounting functions and prepare acknowledgement letters and other correspondence.

Maintain foundation, corporation and individual donor (paper and electronic) files.

Continually update and correct database records.

Assist in the coordination of the production of mailings including the year-end appeal.

Handle all administrative details associated with the Laker Club Return of Contribution program including payment of premiums, maintaining member records and submission of the year-end report to insurance carrier

Other duties as assigned.

Associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field.
Experience in an administrative position, preferably in a not-for-profit development office
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint Database management experience – Banner preferred
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Ability to present information concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing
Ability to organize and prioritize work
Ability to work independently with little supervision
Some evening and weekend work may be necessary
Excellent interpersonal skills
