Title: Executive Director, Division of Academic Services
Function and Responsibility
Under the administrative supervision of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, provide for the leadership and administrative oversight of the Library, Audio-Visual Services, Online Services (faculty orientation and technical support of Blackboard or other Content Management System), Perkins/Occupational Education Services, the Learning Center, academic advising for undeclared students, Career Services, and Testing.
Duties and Responsibilities
Supervise, manage and coordinate entities enumerated, or other areas of responsibility that may be assigned this position, and counsel the Provost on the same. Provide leadership in assessing, planning and coordinating programs, goals and objectives; and ensure these are aligned with the university mission and strategic plan. Participate in the development of academic and university policies. Establish and maintain communications and relations between academic services faculty and staff, and other university personnel, external agencies and institutions.

Recruit, interview and recommend for employment prospective faculty and staff; oversee the scheduling and assignment of departmental responsibilities to faculty and staff; make recommendations on tenure, retention, and promotion of faculty and staff; evaluate faculty and staff performance; administer the collective bargaining agreements.

Prepare, recommend and administer the departmental budgets; approve payroll for faculty, students and staff.

Serve on university committees as assigned or nominated.

Perform related duties as assigned.
Earned doctorate with a Master’s degree in a Library Science field; five years experience in an institution of higher education, three of which involved professional library experience, minimum of three years administrative experience.
Physical and Mental Demands
Adequate physical fitness to be able to sit and concentrate for long periods of time; use of fine motor skills to operate computer; problem solving ability; ability to understand and work with numbers; ability to see, hear, and speak with or without the use of aids to perform normal office tasks. The successful candidate will be able to clearly articulate complex thoughts, concepts, and ideas, in English, in both written and oral formats, to individuals, departments, and large groups of people. An ability to move about campus and to occasionally lift 10 pounds is also required.
