Function and Responsibility
Under administrative direction from the Vice President for Student Affairs, responsible for planning, operating and maintaining all residence halls and the Blair-Hastings Mobile Home Park and overseeing student life.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
Hire, train, supervise and evaluate Area Coordinators and Resident Assistants. Develop assignment plans for use of all residential halls; supervise room and apartment assignments and distribution of student mail to assigned facilities. Supervise staff to meet summer conference and guest housing needs.

Facilitate residential programming and provide oversight and guidance to the student life endeavor. Plan and supervise evening student activities associated with summer orientation programs. Conduct student disciplinary appeals and adjudicate more serious violations.

Meet with concerned students about student and residential life issues and work to resolve issues and proactively improve situations.
Maintain close contact with residents to ensure the delivery of a properly furnished and maintained housing environment. Receive and resolve resident inquiries, requests, and complaints regarding University housing.

Establish communication network with student life, residents, student leaders, area coordinators, resident assistants and administrators to assure housing and student life needs of residents are being met. Work with other student affairs staff to provide quality customer-oriented services.

Review, recommend and implement changes as
necessary to housing policies. Update and publish handbooks for residence halls and mobile home park. Assure compliance with State and Federal codes and regulations.

Inspect facilities and coordinate maintenance and custodial requirements with the Physical Plant Department; issue work orders as necessary. Maintain records of painting sequences. Responsible for renovating, refurbishing, and long and short range planning in the housing facilities and development of four-year refurbishing plan.

Submit timely requisitions for procurement of furnishings, equipment, and contracted services.

Maintain a follow-up on all accounts receivable; design operating procedures and issue necessary invoices for services rendered. Maintain information flow to the Business Office, Information Technology, Food Services, Physical Plant and other departments to allow up-to-date record keeping on residents and facilities, as well as coordination of services.

Maintain and submit payroll information for all assigned personnel; prepare and assume responsibility for annual budget for Housing operations; operate all accounts within current budget limits.

Perform related duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business or related field; three to five years of experience in institutional or related commercial operation.
 
Physical and Mental Demands
Adequate physical fitness to be able to sit and concentrate for long periods of time; use of fine motor skills to operate computer; ability to see, hear, and speak with or without the use of aids to perform normal office tasks; use of gross motor skills to perform supervisory and organizational duties; full use of arms, hands, legs and feet to allow completion of housing inspections on a timely basis.
