John Burdett started working with the Learning Center in 1995 as an Information Technology Specialist. John is the network administrator for the Learning Center and Great Lakes Academy as a whole. One of John's greatest assets to the Learning Center is his concern for students' education and technological needs. John provides individual assistance and maintains unfettered access to the latest educational technology.

Other activities on campus include serving as Web Analyst, interim Webmaster, consulting and committee participation in a variety of technology projects and proposals. John's wide range of technical knowledge comes from his diversified background that includes Music, Sound Recordist, Videography, Graphics, Interactive Multimedia Productions, Telecommunications, Electronic Engineering, Computer Programming.

Off campus, John works with local, state and tribal law enforcement agencies, the Chippewa County court system, Kinross Correctional Facility and area casinos, to provide graphics and video enhancements. John has also created Interactive Multimedia CDs for use in teaching the Anishinabeg language of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians, as well as preserving and archiving the Anishinabeg language to digital media. John still composes music and hobbies with electronics and general physics in his spare time.
