Monday through Thursday: 6:00am - 11:00pm

Admittance

Students and Faculty/Staff

Students and Faculty/Staff are given free admittance to the Norris Center with their LSSU issued I.D. Students and Faculty/Staff may use the James Norris Physical Eductaion Center during regular posted hours of operation.

Public

The James Norris Physical Education Center is open to the public during designated hours. Please check the hours of operation for full details.

Norris Center Building Rules

  • There is Free Walking in the Taffy Able Arena
  • Parking Passes are Provided to Coast Guard and Crops of Engineers with Valid ID
  •  Parking Passes Are Only Needed During Fall and Spring Semesters and Between 7:00am and 5:00pm During the School Year. They Can Only Be Purchased in the Ticket Office. They Cost $10.00
  • All Activities Cease at Closing
  • Loud, Profane, and/or Abusive Language and Music Is Prohibited
  • All Emergencies and Injuries Must Be Reported
  • Children Under the Age of 15 Must Be Within Eyesight of Guardian
  • No Bikes, Skateboard, Roller-skates, and Roller Blades Allowed in Building
  • The Norris Center is Not Responsible for Lost or Stolen Items

Student Activity Center Rules

  • Must Present ID
  • Must Wear Proper Workout Attire
  • Don’t Use Outside Shoes on Equipment
  • Must Keep Shirt and Shoes On
  • Sealed Drinks Only
  • No Weights Outside the Weight Area
  • Equipment Cannot Leave the Fitness Center
  • Wipe Down and Put Away Equipment After Use
  • Personal Items Must Be Stored in a Locker
  • Do Not Drop or Throw Weights
  • All Activities Cease at Closing
  • Loud, Profane, and/or Abusive Language and Music is Prohibited
  • All Emergencies and Injuries Must Be Reported to Person On Duty
  • No Bikes, Skateboard, Roller-skates, and Roller Blades Allowed in the Building
  • If Unable to Follow Rules, You Will Be Asked to Leave
  • The Norris Center SAC Is not Responsible for Lost or Stolen Items

Ice Arena Rules

  • No one without a current high school picture I.D. or driver’s liscense is allowed to use the ice arena without an adult (18 years or older), parent, or guardian with them at all times.
  • Running, pushing, hitting, spitting or dangerous horseplay are not allowed.
  • Rollerblading is not allowed.
  • Floor hockey is not allowed.
  • Rough, loud, and unseemly language or conduct is allowed.
  • Use of arena suites (including the seats outside the suites) is allowed only to individuals possessing a key to the suites
  • No persons, sticks or pucks are allowed on the ice surface while the zamboni is on the ice and the zamboni area doors are open.
  • No smoking is allowed in the building.
  • All persons attending scheduled games or other events in the area must be able to produce a ticket stub, stamp, pass, or other applicable proof of legal admittance upon request of arena monitors

Norris Center Complex Daily Fees

Daily Fee: $4 (includes SAC during public hours), $10 Family Day Pass, and $15 Family Weekend( Saturday and Sunday) Pass
Racquetball Fee: $4 per person per hour (No Daily fee)
Pool: $3 adults, $2 children under 12, $8 family (immediate), $1 shower use without daily fee or pool fee

Taffy Abel Arena Daily Fees

Skating and Drop-in Hockey: $2 per person (pay at Ticket Office)
Walking: Free

Membership Fees & Explanations

There are a number of memberships made available that the public may make use of the Norris Center for a nominal fee. Additional information for each membership plan can be found by clicking on the membership type name.

Families, Adults, and Young Adults

Memberships for Families, Single adults, and Junior adults (15 -18 years of age) are available for the Norris Center and can be upgraded to include the Student Activity Center.

The following are considerations to be taken when deciding what membership is right for you:

  • Retired Faculty/Staff and Persons with a Senior Pass are free.
  • Spouses of Retired Faculty/Staff must pay half price.
  • Family Recreation includes the Norris Center pool, weight room and is for immediate family only. Family Racquetball includes the Norris Center pool, weight room, racquetball courts and is for immediate family only
  • Single Recreation includes the Norris Center pool, racquetball courts, weight room, and includes all equipment in S.A.C.
