Alum Success

Dan Goodrich

“I chose LSSU expecting a very good engineering education. What I didn’t expect was faculty with real-world engineering experience and abilities, labs with real-world equipment, projects with real-world outcomes, and an entire campus staff with real interest in my success, as a student and yet today. My LSSU engineering education has created or supported every desired career opportunity. LSSU was absolutely the right place for me.”

Major: Liberal Arts-Undecided

Hometown: Remus, MI

Activities on and off Campus:

  • His House
  • Cultural Diversity Club

Favorite thing about Lake State:
It is a smaller school so it is easy to get to know everyone. It has smaller class sizes so the faculty can get to know the students.

Best thing about going to school in Sault Ste. Marie:
I love downtown Sault Ste. Marie. The Soo Locks are amazing to watch and I love all the little shops and restaurants.

What are some “Words of Wisdom” you would give to new LSSU Students?
Get involved with as many activities as you can find. Make the Norris Center your best friend.

Fire Science

"I love the fast pace environment, the people in the profession, and the adrenaline rush of running into a burning building or saving someone’s life," she says.

Rondeau chose Lake Superior State University because it offers the first accredited four-year fire science degree in the United States. She also jumped at the challenge of LSSU's Honors program, which requires her to complete 21 Honors credits, including 10 credits for an Honors seminar/thesis project.
