Major: Communication

Hometown: Mt. Pleasant, MI

Activities on and off Campus:

  • Drama Club
  • Pep Band
  • Theatre in general

Favorite thing about Lake State:
My favorite thing about Lake State is the diversity of people you can find, despite the fact that it's a small campus!

Best thing about going to school in Sault Ste. Marie:
The hometown feel. You can come to school here and not feel intimidated by a busy town on the go. It's a nice quiet place to learn but with new experiences around every corner!

What are some “Words of Wisdom” you would give to new LSSU Students?
Don't be afraid to try new things. College is a great place to step out of your comfort zone and try a variety of activities that you may not have tried otherwise. Besides, think of the people you'll meet if you do!

Hands-on Training...

Brian Applegate

Brian Applegate
Fire Science

LSSU's dedicated three-story fire lab made all the difference to Brian Applegate.

Applegate says his favorite exercise was the live fire flashover simulation. "We saw how fires evolved as they burned," he says. "It’s as close as you can get to the real thing."
