Maria DiValentin

"I chose to transfer to Lake Superior State University because of the personal attention I would receive. I did not want to attend a large university where I would be a number lost in the masses. The well-rounded curriculum allowed me to obtain my position at John Deere. Having a good balance of theory and hands-on knowledge is critical for my position and Lake State gave me a good foundation in these skills."

Favorite thing about Lake State:

The small class sizes allow professors to get to know you - it's really personable.

There is always something to do outdoors.

What are some “Words of Wisdom” you would give to new LSSU Students?

College is a balancing act: work hard with your future in mind, but live a little and enjoy this time while you have it.

Favorite Thing to do in the Soo:

  • The Soo has amazing sunsets. Driving around finding places to watch sunsets.
  • Go sledding the the winter.
  • Go driving in the country in the fall - the colors are amazing.
