POLICY:

The University operates a number of Regional Centers. The Regional Centers are established to provide off-campus degree programs in selected areas as established by the Director of Continuing Education and the academic departments. As appropriate, non-credit activities and programs may be offered to residents of the areas serviced by the Regional Centers. Each Regional Center is served by a director who is responsible for the recruitment of new students and provides support and services to currently enrolled students. The Regional Site Directors report to the Director of Continuing Education.

The Regional Centers are run as part of the Continuing Education general fund activity with a budget to cover the salary and fringe benefits of the director and costs associated with the operation of the centers, such as travel expenses for the director, supplies and equipment, room and office rental, partnership fees if applicable and advertising. Direct instructional expenses for travel of the instructors and IATV charges are also charged to Continuing Education. Instructors' salaries and fringe benefits are charged to the appropriate academic department.

The Director of each Regional Center is responsible to: (Note: For specific detail, refer to the job description on file in the Human Resources Office.)

  1. Promote LSSU regional center programs to non-traditional adults who are seeking degree completion programs at that location. The directors also help facilitate the transfer articulation process for their respective community college with LSSU Admissions and Academic Records.

  2. Determine, in consultation and collaboration with the Director of Continuing Education and the academic departments, the course schedule to be offered following the approved rotation schedule, computation of breakeven number of registrations required for each course and cancellation of marginal classes. Assist in locating qualified adjunct faculty for academic departmental approval.

  3. Create strategic marketing plan each year for advertising and promotion of respective regional center.

  4. Coordinate and act as laison between the regional center, the community college and LSSU main campus departments such as admissions, business office, registrar, financial aid, the Campus Shoppe, library services, academic departments and other community organizations.

  5. Facilitate the registration of regional center students and the collection of tuition.

  6. Assist with assessment activities of regional center students, faculty and programs with the Director of Continuing Education and the academic department.
