POLICY:

The University maintains a travel accident insurance policy for employees while they are in travel status on official University business. The policy pays benefits for loss of life and injury caused by an accident resulting in loss of limbs, sight, speech, hearing, and/or permanent total disability existing for more than twelve months, subject to the terms and definitions of the underwriter.

The University pays all premium costs for this insurance policy. Absence for travel on University business and method of travel must be approved before the fact by the appropriate Cabinet member. Any claims resulting from a travel accident will be processed through the office of the University Risk Manager. Beneficiaries for this policy may be designated in the Human Resources Office on the form provided. If a beneficiary is not designated by an employee, benefits for incurred losses will be paid according to the schedule listed in the policy by the underwriter. The maximum principle sum paid by this insurance is $100,000 per individual per accident, according to the schedule listed in the policy, or $1,000,000 aggregate limit of indemnity per accident.
