I work for an environmental and engineering consulting firm with offices all over the world. Right now, I am being trained to manage some of our hydrogeologic and groundwater statistical monitoring programs for several landfills. Golder provides services in a variety of areas, including mining, oil and natural gas, power, water resource management, land development, waste management, and more.

The Provost is the chief academic officer of the university. Academic Affairs is organized into four Colleges, twelve Schools, and eighteen Departments. In addition to monitoring the academic programs, the Provost oversees the Division of Academic Services, Regional Centers, Sponsored Programs, Information Technology, Public School Academies (charter schools), and International Studies.

Maurice Walworth was appointed Provost in July 2010; previous to his appointment as Provost, Walworth held the position of Dean of the College of Engineering, Technology and Economic Development for four years. He served previously as Chair is an Associate Professor of Engineering.

"LSSU is a relatively small school and I believe for this reason I have received a better education. The close atmosphere as opposed to a larger university has provided me with an opportunity to become acquainted with my professors. The professors therefore have an opportunity to assist with problems fairly easily, especially in upper level classes. The classes are fairly small also which provides one on one conversations which is very helpful."
