High Schoolers Camp, Session I
Edventure Camp is a weeklong hands-on learning experience in a particular field such as ecology, geology, creative writing, video game design, and many more. Edventures are taught by LSSU Faculty and Staff who are knowledgeable about their subject matter and share this enthusiasm with their students. Each course encourages creative thinking, the development of problem solving skills, and individual exploration of student interests. The Stock Market
What’s the difference between stocks, bonds, and mutual funds? Examine the U. S. banking system and stock market and how they work. Follow stocks during the class and invest in “your portfolio”. Dr. Gerald Root, LSSU School of Business Faculty
Chinese Language and Culture
Learn to communicate in Chinese in various social and cultural situations. Taught in an informal and relaxed atmosphere, this class develops skills needed by travelers and others who want to learn about Chinese language and culture. Creative Flow
Do you like to write, want to meet others your age who like to write, and have the opportunity to receive personal instruction from the LSSU Creative Writing Faculty? During the week, you will explore places of interest in Sault Sainte Marie and use the history and beauty of the area as inspiration for your writing. So come explore the Sault in person and on the page. Experience a variety of creative writing genres, including poetry, playwriting, songwriting, fiction and non-fiction prose. Web Page Creation
Learn to create professional-looking web sites. This hands-on course will provide all the skills and resources you will need to start designing a web site. Topics include XHTML, cascading style sheets, and web page graphics. Learning scripting languages will allow you to make dynamic pages. Dreamweaver will also be explored. Handouts, support materials and links to free Internet resources will be provided.

Fire Science
You will learn academic and basic hands-on training in vehicle extrication, search and rescue, water evolutions, rapid intervention team training, ventilation, and forcible entry. Dr. James Schaefer, LSSU Fire Science Faculty
Physics
You will develop an understanding of physics concepts through hands-on activities. You will explore the working principles of advanced medical imaging techniques such as the CAT scan, PET scan and MRI. By means of experimentation, you will learn about electric currents and their applications and the physics of motion. Dr. Bijaya Aryal, LSSU Geology and Physics Faculty
A Photo Finish
You will learn the fundamentals of picture taking in a natural environment from a professional photographer. This class will focus on understanding your camera, flash photography, natural light photography and the basics of digital files and storage. Exploring Biological Science: Hands-on Opportunities for Students Interested in Biology and Health
You will learn about opportunities in the health field with hands on laboratory experiences. Labs will include dissections and work with human skeletons and models in the anatomy lab, BioPac physiology experiments, EKG and respiration in the physiology lab, and DNA extraction and gel electrophoresis in the genetics lab. Video Game Design
Explore the world of video game design as you design and tweak your own video game. You will explore the process of game creation from initial idea to final concept.
