Online Learning Assistance

Opportunity: "Bridging the gap between students and technology for improved learning."

Strategy: Online Learning Assistance (OLA) is an anytime-anywhere approach to learning assistance (that is online study groups or tutoring) that allows students to access learning support via the internet at times and locations convenient for them. OLA is delivered via Blackboard © (another Title III initiative) and includes chatrooms, discussion threads, online quizzing and review sheets. OLA targets LSSU's traditionally difficult courses and, in many cases, enhances our "Supplemental Instruction (SI)" program.

The classrooms, especially as you get to the upper levels, get smaller, so you not only have a chance to discuss your ideas in an honest, supportive manner, but you also get to know your professors and classmates. The upper level courses really allow you to focus on what you love, and the small class size allows you to have time to share and to discuss your ideas."
