LOCO FOR LEGOS – Lake Superior State University engineering professor and top LEGO League judge Andrew Jones whips up Whitefish Township School's spirit before they take on Team Mancelona during the second annual FIRST LEGO League regional tournament hosted at LSSU Nov. 20 in Sault Ste Marie, Mich. Elementary and middle school teams from the Eastern Upper Peninsula and northern Lower Michigan entered Lego creations that had to use optical and mechanical sensors to steer themselves through an obstacle course. Two teams — Sault Area Middle School's Terminators and Traverse City Montessori Elementary's Microbes — now advance to the LEGO League state tournament to be held Dec 11 in Flint.
