Economic planners share vision with Lieutenant Governor

Posted: August 8th, 2012

A REGION'S STRENGTHS – Michigan Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley chats with regional economic planners during an afternoon briefing hosted for Calley by Lake Superior State University on August 1. Officials with Sault Ste. Marie's SmartZone and LSSU's Product Development Center (PDC) briefed the lieutenant governor on the Eastern Upper Peninsula's strong placement as transportation hub and launch pad for North American business initiatives. The SmartZone opens a breeder building this fall that will provide office space, software, meeting rooms, manufacturing equipment, and other resources to area entrepreneurs who are getting started in production. LSSU's PDC offers engineering and prototyping services in concert with the SmartZone. Run a Web search on "Sault SmartZone" for details. (LSSU/John Shibley)
