SQUEEZE PLAY – Teachers discover it takes more than 8,500 pounds of pressure to flatten a baseball during a tour of Lake Superior State University's materials testing lab on Aug. 29 in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. More than 600 teachers were on campus for a daylong Eastern Upper Peninsula Intermediate School District conference. From left are LSSU engineering professor Paul Duesing; Dave Duncan with Cedarville schools; Jason Duncan, a student teacher at Brimley; Heather Brady from St. Ignace; Chris Pearson with Rudyard public schools; and Andy Grossman from Paradise. Looking on from a safe distance in the back is engineer David Leach, with the LSSU Product Development Center, who also briefed the group. (LSSU/John Shibley)
