Health Care Center helps LSSU mascot stay healthy

Posted: September 14th, 2012

ONE LUCKY DUCK – Lake Superior State University mascot Seamore the Sea Duck gets a preseason check-up courtesy of staff at LSSU's Health Care Center. No word yet on when the university's other mascot, Foghorn the Sailor, will show up for his fall training physical. The Center is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., for LSSU students, staff, faculty, and the general public. There is no out of pocket expense for LSSU students to be seen at the Health Center for a majority of services. The center accepts most insurance plans. LSSU staff, faculty and their families are charged a $10 co-pay for medical services, compared to a $25 co-pay for services rendered elsewhere. Pictured left to right are receptionist Connie Keiper, nurse practitioner Mary McLeod, medical assistant Stephanie Wiessner, director Karen Storey, Seamore, physician assistant Scott Bartz, and medical assistant Renee Formolo. LSSU's Health Care Center is located at 621 W Easterday Avenue, Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. Call 906/635-2110 for more information and appointments, or look for "LSSU Health Center" on the Web.
