PARENTS OF THE YEAR -- Lake Superior State University President Tony McLain (second from right) joins LSSU student John Plotzke in presenting the Bud and Mary Mansfield Parent of the Year Award to John & Rita Plotzke. Award namesake Bud Mansfield was a member of LSSU's first class of students, the "Pioneer Class." He and Mary sent all of their children to LSSU, and their first grandchild graduated with an LSSU degree recently. A committee of students, faculty and staff reviewed the nominations for Parent of the Year and selected Plotzke's essay.
