Al Case returns to LSSU as director of Admissions
Posted: December 21st, 2012
Lake Superior State University has hired Allan R. Case, an alumnus and former LSSU staffer, as director of Admissions. He replaces Susan Camp, who retired in November after more than 30 years of service.
A former assistant director of LSSU Admissions, Case was most recently executive director of the Sault Area Chamber of Commerce. He is also an adjunct instructor in the LSSU Dept. of Communication Studies.
“Al was viewed by the university community as the clear front-runner in a national search process to fill the position,” said William Eilola, vice president for LSSU Enrollment Services. “We look forward to his return to LSSU and to his leadership in the LSSU Admissions Office.”
Case holds a bachelor’s degree in English from LSSU as well as a master’s degree in education from Michigan State University. He worked at LSSU for nine years in the Admissions Dept. before assuming the role of director at the Sault Chamber in November 2011. As director, he will be responsible for leading the overall recruitment effort for new students, assessing operational effectiveness, and introducing innovation to promotional strategies.

As assistant director of LSSU Admissions, Case was responsible for managing and developing both professional and student staff, facilitating student services, and coordinating publications and marketing efforts. He was a valued staff member who received the Employee of the Year Award in 2008.
"I'm greatly enthused about my return to LSSU where I've spent a significant portion of my adult life as a student and staff member,” Case said. “LSSU has a great environment and Admissions has a wonderful team already in place. I look forward to working with them, along with the rest of the campus community."
Case was successful during his tenure at the Sault Chamber, expanding the Chamber’s membership while establishing greater attendance at community events and increasing the organization’s role in the community with new groups such as the Young Professionals.
A former Charlevoix resident, Case and his wife, Jessica, live in Sault Ste. Marie. He is expected to start his new position at LSSU in early February. -LSSU-
