Academic best descend on Lake State for Laker Gold

BOUND FOR (LAKER) GOLD – Almost 30 graduating high school seniors competed for three full tuition scholarships during the third annual Laker Gold Scholarship Competition held at Lake Superior State University on Jan. 19 in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. Students wrote competitive essays and were personally interviewed by LSSU faculty, staff and students. They came from all over Michigan, with an average GPA of a 3.94 and a 29.6 composite on the ACT. Academic interests included, but were not limited to, engineering, biology, chemistry, criminal justice/fire science, nursing, business, education and liberal arts. LSSU’s Admissions Office will announce who landed the scholarships before the end of February. (LSSU/John Shibley)
